Human Body Systems
Survival Words
Circulatory System transports nutrients and oxygen to cells in the body and removes waste and carbon dioxide.
Respiratory System is how we exchange carbon dioxide for oxygen.
Excretory System is where the waste is separated and removed from the body.
Digestive System is where the body breaks down nutrients so they can be absorbed into the blood stream.
Reproductive System is how people make more of themselves.
Nervous System is what controls the action of the body and transmits signals.
Integumentary System is the skin, hair, and nails.
Skeletal System is the bone structure that makes the frame of the body.
Muscular System is muscles that allow us to move.
Endocrine System is glands that produce hormones and put them into the blood.
Human Body Critical Questions
How do all of our body systems work together to create homeostasis? The human body has 11 systems that work together to maintain homeostasis. The nervous controls body systems to help maintain a balance. The circulatory and respiratory systems work together to deliver oxygen and remove carbon dioxide. If the body needs more oxygen, a signal is sent to the nervous system which tells the respiratory system to deliver more oxygen. If the body is too cold or hot then the circulatory system will help control the temperature. The systems work together to fight infection, maintain blood pressure, transport nutrients, remove waste, and receive information from the surrounding environment. Some systems speed up from the endocrine. Our NCR class worksheets and the nervous system lab helped to understand these ideas. This relates to the world outside the classroom by helping us to understand how and why our bodies respond to changes in the environment.
Why is each body system needed for survival of the organism? The body's organisms contribute to the survival of the body by performing essential and unique functions. The nervous system is essential since it controls functions and helps maintain homeostasis. The digestive system provides nutrients, the respiratory system gets oxygen, and the circulatory system transports oxygen and removes carbon dioxide. The skeletal and muscle work together to function. The reproductive system isn't needed for survival of the body but it is needed for continued human existence. Our class study of anatomy and rat dissection helped the most in understanding the body systems. This relates to the owrld outside the classroom by showing us how important it is to take care of all of our body systems so we can stay healthy.
